Brief Description: Drilled Holes for Aileron Cables in Cockpit Sides
Measured the location of the front aileron cable penetration on the left side of the cockpit. Marked that location on the panel and drilled a 1 1/4 inch hole. Fitted the panel on the side of the fuselage and checked clearance for the aileron cables. Removed the panel and set it aside to varnish the cut areas.
On the right side mounted the panel and marked the location of the center aileron pulley. Removed the panel and used a 2 1/2 inch hole saw to cutout space for the pulley. Used a saw to remove the bottom of the circle to fit over the pulley bracket. Measured the location of the front aileron cable penetration on the right side of the cockpit. Marked that location on the panel and drilled a 1 1/4 inch hole. Mounted the panel and checked the clearance for the cables. Found that the area over the pulley was too close and marked it. Removed the panel and used a rotary file to enlarge the opening to clear the pulley. Replaced the panel and checked the clearances again. Removed the panel and set it aside to varnish the cut areas.
