Brief Description: Continued Work on Right Wing Struts
Checked the pictures taken of the forward strut and verified the gap on the top end of the strut. Cut a 1 1/16 inch plug from a 1/2 by 3 inch oak plank. Cut a 1 1/8 inch grove in the plug using a hole saw. Marked the plug at the angle needed for the strut. Using a router bit trimmed the plug to the marked line. Did a test fit and marked the plug at the points needing further trimming. Fitted the plug and tapped it in place. Verified the length of the strut and checked it against the measurements before removal. Measurements matched.
Started on the aft strut top end. Cut another plug from the oak plank. Cut a grove across the plug as above. Marked it with the outline to cut, based on the gap needed to fill. Trimmed the plug to fit in the end of the strut. Checked the fit and marked where additional trimming was needed. Completed the trimming and checked the fit again. Additional trimming finished the fit of the plug.
