Unbolted the aft left strut top and bottom. Slid the strut all of the way back against the aft spars. Using the existing holes in the strut as a guide drilled a 3/16 inch hole into the bottom cross beam. Checked the position of the top of the strut fully back against the aft spar. Drilled a 3/16 inch hole in the cross beam using the existing holes as a guide. Replaced the AN 3 bolts in the top and bottom of the strut.
Marked the wing skin in front of the forward strut to allow it to be moved next to the front spar. Used a manual nibbler to remove the aluminum from the marked area. Measured the gaps between the top and bottom ends of the strut and the cross brace. Recorded the measurements for the four gaps. Removed the bolts from the bottom of the forward strut and removed the tie down bracket. Removed the top bolt from the strut and then slid the strut back and removed it. Set the strut aside to bring home for the construction of wood plugs to fill the gaps.
