Measured and marked the location of the fuel tank drain. Positioned the battery box bottom at a position which would allow for the fuel drain to pass through the belly pan. Marked the locations on the frame and also marked the battery box bottom ends to fit the cross brace. Cut away the excess material on the battery box bottom and clamped it in position. Spot welded the battery box bottom to the frame and checked position and alignment. Completed the welding at all four corners of the battery box bottom.
Mounted the electric fuel pump on the bracket and test fitted it to the firewall at a location to the left of the battery box bottom. Alignment checked good. Removed the electric fuel pump and set it aside. Held the bracket in place and spot welded the bottom to the frame. Drilled a 1/4 inch hold through the firewall using the bracket as a template. Installed a 1/4 inch aluminum bolt through the firewall and bracket securing it in place. Refer to Image 1.
Cut and formed one safety wire tab and two belly pan mounting tabs. Drilled a 1/16 inch hole in the safety wire tab. Drilled and taped both belly pan tabs for 10-24 screws. Marked the safety wire tab position on the frame under the oil sump. Removed the sump and set it aside. Held the safety wire tab in place and spot welded it. Completed the welding on the safety wire tab. Using a flat steel place clamped under the frame at the location for the belly pan tab 12 inches from the fuselage side. Spot welded the tab in place. Removed the steal plate and completed the welding of the tab to the frame. Repeated the process for the other tab on the left side of the fuselage. See Image 2.
