Brief Description:  Determining Spacer Dimensions

The bottom aft end of the left side 3/8 foam was not flush with the masonite form so I added 2 dabs of 5-min epoxy to hold down the foam properly.

I spent the time today reviewing Figure 7 and the instructions in step 2.

Since Fig 7 shows a total side length of 102" I am assuming that the lengths shown for the spacers are with respect to the 102" length and does not compensate for the rounded shape of the fuselage sides. To determine the lengths needed for the various spacers, I marked the linear dimensions on the table and the foam then used a tape measure rounded out on the foam between the marks to determine what size I will need to actually cut to so that the spacers will properly fit the inside curved shape of the fuselage sides.

For the spacers at the aft end, I found the dimensions somewhat lacking with respect to the width of the tapers. I searched other builders websites and located the diagram below. Credit to "The Cozy Serenity" website at http://cozyserenity.weebly.com/chapter-5-sides.html.

For the spacers I will be using LAST-A-FOAM 3/4" x 24" x 96"
