TO comply with a Dec 6, 2021 Zenith Safety Alert, I installed a secondary canopy lock. The method I chose was one used by Phill Barned (Austrailia) which employs a standard locking boat cleat mainted to the rear canopy support frame and is connected to the front canopy via a 6mm sailing line (Phill is also a sailor).
I ordered some .125" 6061-T6 plate and fabricated a mount for the boat cleat attach point (rear canopy) and the teather mount plate (front canopy) and installed them both into their respective canopy frames using A5 rivets. I then strung the rope between the 2 points, cut it to the right length, and fashions a loop to assist in pulling the canopy down.
Rough initial cut of secondary latch fitted to canopy support frame.
