Brief Description: Panel POWER
|
|
YES!!! It's alive!
I installed the panel back in the plane and temporarily hooked all the power wires up. Then, I attached the avionic wires to the avionic buss.
The transponder has thrown me for a loop. There are TWO power wires from it... and I only have room for one. (I don't want to double then up on the same breaker... so I'll need to do some more checking.)
When everything was wired... I held my breath and flipped the MASTER switch. NOTHING I carefully checked all the connections again. Everything looked perfect. Filipped the switch - STILL NOTHING.
I pulled out the drawings again and stepped through each connection. Duh... I had not connected the circuit board to ground. I ran a ground wire... flipped the master and heard the tell tale CLICK.
Next, I flipped the avionic'c master. The audio panel, transponder, and both radios came to life.
Then, I grabbed a circuit tester and checked each of the molex plugs for correct power. When each of the appropriate switches was flipped, the tester showed power.
Lastly, I checked the warning lights. This time, when they didn't light up, I checked for ground. Sure enough, I hadn't grounded them. I connected a temporary ground connection to the grounding molex connector and everything worked fine. The ALT worning light blinks! (It would be hard to miss it!)
