I borrowed a 2 1/2 cutter this afternoon and decided to work a bit on the panel. For the past few months I have been moving the scale size instruments into different configurations.I think I have tried every combination I can think of. I have two aluminum panels (I ordered an extra one from Vans.) My plan is to cut the first one by hand and decide if everything will work OK. Then, I'll fine tune the design and have it professionally cut.
So today, I dove in and started cutting. The circle cuts are super easy with the cutter. (I'll get a few pictures of it in action next time.) The square cuts for the other instruments are a pain in the rear. I decided to cut the rough opening with a skill saw. Then, file it to size. I should probably cut closer to the final size because I spent most of the evening filing. But, the two cuts came out pretty good! (But my wrists are killing me.)

Shhh... I'm robbing the Icom from one of Cormacs old planes.
