Brief Description:  Panel - Heat Knob and Emergency Carb Air Knob

This afternoon our high school football team won it's first round playoff game. After the game I came out to the hangar and decided to get the panel rough work finished.

I have been debating the location of the cabin heat knob and the emergency carb air knob. I don't want to pull the cabin heat rather than the carb heat and don't want to accidentaly pull the emergency carb air knob. So, after trying each in a dozen locations, I decided on the cabin air under the heated seat switches and the emergency carb air to the very lower left of the panel. (Under the starter) It should be tucked away enought so I don't grab it by mistake... but should be easy to find.

I cut the brackets out of aluminum angle iron. They should be stiff enough to keep from bending.

- Lately, I just use the miter box with a hack saw to make most angle iron cuts. It takes a bit longer but ends up with a nice cut.
- I used the knob as a pattern to round the edges.
- I used a washer to center the hole I drilled for the cable.
- Then, step drilled it to size. (I burned my finger touching the aluminum after using the step drill. It was REALLY hot. Be careful)

Removing the panel after marking where it was to go allowed me to easily drill and countersink the holes.

Attaching the brackets to the panel.
- Drilled for #8 screws
- Countersunk brackets
- Attached nutplates to panel - a little time now... but easier to install and remove down the road.
