This evening the hanger was still well above 80 degrees so I decided to continue on with the rear canopy.
I made a major cutting error and had to retrim the entire front of the back canopy. Luckily, I had enough to spare.
I started by drilling the holes in the back skin. After the I got the gap as close as possible to matching the front canopy, I drilled through the plexi and clecoed. (I am leaving the gap with almost no gap. I've read that when you put the struts on the canopy, it sometimes move forward a bit. If it doesn't I can always trim away a bit more of the edge. I'm getting to be an expert trimmer.)
I drilled all the holes in the back, but just a few in the front. My plan is to finish drilling through the plexi enough to leave a mark in the metal. Then, I'll remove the canopy and drill with a metal drill.
When you step back and look at the plane... it looks FAST!
This is my invention for getting the holes the same distance from the edge.
