Brief Description:  Canopy - drilling to frame

Dang am I getting tired of putting this canopy on and off the frame. After another 50 fittings, it is very close. (I'm afraid of taking off more material and goofing the thing up.)

So, I taped everything down super tight and drilled the holes through the canopy to the frame. (SCARY)

I drilled the first few holes from the outside, lining everything up by looking through the canopy. Then, I had the bright idea of drilling them from inside the fuselage. I could reach a few through the back, then decided to get inside to do the rest. After 15 minutes of contortions, I was inside. It took about 2 minutes to drill the holes. Getting in was much easier than getting out. In fact, I was wondering if I would ever get out.

I trimmed the back of the canopy to line up with the center of the roll bar. When the canopy dropped down during the big cut... the back slid back a bit.

I then used a cool countersink stone I got from Avery to countersink the holes. To check how deep to go, I dimpled a piece of metal and kept testing the hole.

I'm going to wait until everything is drilled to enlarge the holes.
