This afternoon when I came to the hangar, the first thing I tried was removing the fiberglass fairing. Dang, I didn't use enough was. I finally was able to remove it but boy was it stuck on!
With a little trimming, I think it will work well. After removing the protective tape from the canopy, I test fit the fiberglass. It fits great!
I installed the canopy back on the fuselage and started thinking through the fiberglass for the back of the tip-up. From what I have read, unless you cover the crack in the canopy opening, it makes a lot of noise. I had thought about covering it with metal, but am looking forward to making the covering with fiberglass.
This evening I also worked on the release mechanism for the canopy. I had decided to just bolt it on and not use the quick release system. But, I'm not thinking of installing a partial system. One that won't be a quick release, but rather a easier way of removing the pins. (Instead of getting under the panel and standing on your head.
I must have used some of the pieces for another project because I don't have long enough rods. (I'll need to put in another order to Vans.)
