I decided to use my slow but sure plan. Cut the airbox longer than I think it should be and keep trimming a bit at a time until it is close.

Next, I worked on making it fit as close as I could to the right side of the plane so the box doesn’t run on the cowling. (But not so far off to the side that it goofs up the retainer clips.)
