This was another banner day. I drilled the holes for the brake pedals. I have been pondering, googling, and fretting about this for months. I have gotten in the plane numerous times and tested the fit...
The big question is... should you have the brake pedals straight up and down or tilted forward a bit. I decided to go for it. (With a gentle tilt.) I can always remake the brake pedals.
I was very thoughtful and careful with the process of getting the pedals exactly right.
I clamped the rudder pedals on the bench. (Like they are in the plane.) I used a square on the table to make sure the rudder pedals line up vertically. Then, I clamped a angle iron on the bottom of the rudder pedals to keep them lined up.
Next, I used an aluminum yard stick to keep the tilt of the brake pedals the same.
I installed the brake cylinders and marked where to drill. I used the angle drill to drill the brake pedals in place.
When finished, I hooked everything up and it seems to line up well. So, I took everything apart and primed the pedals. I'm going to spray them with the hammered gray when the primer is dry.
