This evening I finished fabricating the angles for the brake pedals. I came to the hangar with a number of ideas on how I was going to cut the aluminum. I tried them all and ended up just using the hand hack saw and sander. I cut the pieces giving myself some room for error. Then, just used the sander to trim the extra.
After I was happy with the angles, I deburred everything and used the scotchbrite wheel to polish up the edges and smooth the corners. Next I countersunk the correct holes. Lastly, I riveted the brake pedals together.
I have been using the assembly line approach up until last night. What has ended up happening is that I goof up 8 of the same pieces in a row. So, tonight I worked on one pedal until it was done, then went to the next. I think it slows me down a bit... which is good.
I decided to see how they fit into the rudder assembly when my wife swung by. I snapped a picture of her inspecting my work.
