This evening, I worked on the vertical stabilizer. Well, I actually spent a great deal more time PONDERING then building. I'm going to have to check out a few sites with pictures... it isn't as clear to me as it should be.
I cut the length of the vertical stabilizer flange and web. It makes no sense that I'm trimming it now. It would have been a zillion times easier to trim it before assembling the vertical stabilizer.
Next, I test fit the vertical stabilizer, read, analyzed and pondered. Then removed the stabilizer and test fit the vertical stabilizer attach plate. There is only one way it can possibly go on... and the holes are already there... so I smoothed the edges and temporarily bolted it in place.
I installed the vertical stabilizer again and clamped it in place. Then, worked at getting it set correctly.
