Brief Description: Rivet skin to spar - Left Elevator
AGH! I have pondered how I was going to accomplish this for about a week. The spar fits into the left elevator skin and you have to buck the rivets on the back side of the spar. The only way to do it is to pry the skin open and hold a bucking bar in the chanel of the spar. You have to do this blind because its impossible to see what you are doing while bucking most of the rivets.
Using trial and error we finally came up with a system that worked well. (Heavy on the error) Dad would run the rivet gun and I'd hold the bucking bar. We would drive a few... I'd drill them out... and we would re-think how to do it. I'll try to remember to shoot a picture of the 3 other bucking bars we used before we tried the little one. Each of the others seemed like they would work... but didn't.
It took a bit more pounding to set the rivets with the small bar, but they ended up looking really good. In the end, all turned out well.
