This evenings work revolved around trying to get the face of the two cowling parts to line up. I ended up sanding both the top and the bottom until the face was flush. I tried to take as little as possible from the areas where the screws would go.
I drilled and clecoed the forward screw hole to keep everything in place when I fit the cowling back on the plane.
