Brief Description:  Fuel System Almost Complete

Recall that there are 2 header tanks behind the pilots head in the fuselage. A transfer pump moves fuel into one tank while gravity feeds fuel into the other tank so that they are always at the same level. Despite calculating an appropriate hose diameter (AN-3) I was surprised to see how slow the tanks equalized when the hose was connected. With one tank full of water and the other one the same height, after 1 minute only 100mL of water was transfered! So, I did the same test without the hose and can say that the hose restricts the flow much more than I realized. I decided to purchase AN-8 bulkhead fittings and hose to replace the AN-3 fittings and hose. I repeated the same test and the results were satisfactory, the tanks equalize in 34 seconds (1 liter from tank A to tank B). The maximum fuel consumption of the engine is 1.3 liters per minute, so this provides an acceptable safety factory.

The fuel system hardware received teflon paste on all the NPT fittings. I added the appropriate connectors and wires to the various components. In the picture are 3 solenoids (fuel, lubrication and ignition) as wells as the fuel flow sensors and fuel pump.
