Brief Description:  Control Cables

The (4) custom 1/16" control cables I ordered arrived today. I measured them with a piece of string and subtracted 1.5" for the turnbuckle. The cable lengths are just perfect. I hooked everything up temporarily and was extremely pleased to see the ailerons moving up and down as I rotated the control stick left and right! There's no chance these cables are coming off the pulley's, so I'm not going to bother adding a guard around them. Checking the cable tension during each preflight will be mandatory. The cables each have an eye end and a turnbuckle end. The front two cables are the same length, 20 inches with left thread turnbuckle, while the rear ones are 32" and 35" respectively.with right thread turnbuckle. Finding the correct length AN3 bolt was the only time consuming part. This new control system has been by far the most complicated part of this entire project. It is responsible for an additional 8 weeks of thinking, designing, fabricating, ordering parts, and endless anxiety, but seeing all the control surfaces move is just phenomenal, a bitter sweet end and on to more trivial tasks.
