Brief Description:  Aileron Bellcrank

A bellcrank was fabricated to transform the rotational motion of the control stick into linear motion on the aileron pushrods. An identical tubular bracket was welded to the rear of the square bar in the wing root area. It cannot be welded on the front otherwise it will interfere with the wing root knuckles. It was next to impossible to get the tig torch into that area to weld, so visually the weld looks sloppy, but the penetration was good. At one point I was almost standing on my head to get underneath. Hopefully I never have to do that again! The bellcrank uses a pair of swivels and threaded bar to join the bellcrank to the aileron pushrods, which will be assembled later in the project. An AN3 bolt (drilled for castelated nut) was welded to the pivot point on the bellcrank. A castelated nut with cotter pin is used keep it all together. The next hurdle is the elevator push rod. All these pulley's and castelated nuts will be part of the check list.
