Brief Description:  Aileron Pulley's

The control stick uses pulley's and 1/16" wire rope to move the aileron pushrods. The wire rope must route to the rear of the aircraft on the outside of the truss. There is simply no room to route the wire rope any other way due to the pilot's bum being in the way! The simple solution is to weld these AN3 bolts to the frame. The pulley bearings are from McMaster Carr for about $6 each. I used a piece of 3/32" aluminum tig wire as a "third hand" to not only hold the bolt in place while I weld, but also to provide an electrical connection to ground during the initial weld. I hooked up some string to check for clearance and all is well. I should have used a heat shield while welding, but no problem, the fiberglass is nonstructural and the mark is superficial. Next I must install some bearings in the back to reverse the direction of the control cable so that left stick makes the airplane roll left! Again, just the actual labor was logged.
