A hole was cut in the fiberglass above the engine mount. The engine mount was removed and scrubbed clean. A special drill extension was made to drill a 1 inch diameter hole through the tail boom, between the push rods, to permit cable routing. Rubber grommets will go in these holes. A hole was also drilled in the bottom of the steel engine mount receiver that contours the tail boom. So, a total of 3 holes were drilled in order to route cables up to the future engine mount. The engine mount receiver required significant filing to widen the hole so that it would accomodate the rubber grommet that will be installed in the tail boom. The last image shows a top down look through the fiberglass fuselage, through the top hole of the tail boom, then the bottom hole of the tail boom and ultimately the bottom of the inside of the fuselage where the Engine Control Unit will be installed.
