Brief Description:  Bottom's Up!

Finally the cabin is ready for the bottom skins. I meticulously lined up bottom corner skins first (as per the instructions) using my calipers. I realized that to get the proper overlap between the front and rear corners the 40mm overhang in the rear had to be reduced to 35mm. I then used some masking tape and calipers to mark the 32mm spacing. Next I place the masking tape over the center line of the rivet holes. Lastly I was very careful not to drill through the welds underneath. The bottom most hole had a massive blob of a weld behind it, so not much I could do to avoid about 10% of the hole touching it. For the most part the bends in these 0.040" skins were spot on. After all the skins are in plate I will drill out the PF-157 supports. On a side note I spend 3 hours making gusset plates for the PF-157 supports only to realize that the front portion of the frame is 3/16" aluminum and the rear is 1/8" aluminum, so after a phone call and some e-mails realized that the gusset plates are totally unnecessary! Another 3 hours wasted. Lot's of holes to drill now.
