Brief Description: Generating Pattern for the Wheel Opening
To create an initial cut pattern for the bottom of the wheel pants, a laser was used to define a straight line tangent to the wheel hub. This line was used to align a profile duplicator so an accurate profile of the tire at this tangent line could be acquired. The distance between the edge of the tread at the front and rear of the line was measured, and these two pieces of information were used to make a paper pattern of the resulting profile. This pattern was transferred to 1/16” plywood, and cut out with a jigsaw. The resulting pattern fit well.
