Primed parts with self-etching Dupli-color aerosol spray paint from Advanced Auto Parts, similar to the Horizontal Stabilizer. Applied 2 coats and pretty happy with the results.
Prepped the parts prior to spraying with a mineral spirits wipe down to remove fingerprints, vinyl glue, etc. Adhesion seems to be very good, but the primer certainly isn't as durable as an epoxy primer -- Of course, it weighs significantly less and is much, much easier to apply. I don't have the patience to deal with epoxy primers or the desire to have a heavy airplane, especially in the tail section.
