Brief Description:  Starter Project 2 - complete

Completed the second starter project earlier this afternoon by rivetting the top & bottom skin to the skeleton, rivetting the trailing edge wedge in place and rolling and pop-rivetting the leading edge.On the whole, it wasn't too bad. I drilled out a couple of rivets I wasn't happy with, but some others I left in place (though on the aircraft itself I would have re-done those too). I had to grind the nose of the no-hole yoke even thinner to allow me to set the last two rivets on the ribs (near the trailing edge).I also found rivetting the skin on using the mushroom rivet head and bucking bar harder than I thought. The rivet gun wanted to slide around a lot since it was at a slight angle. The trailing edge double-flush rivets weren't *too* bad, but I still ended up with a slight wave to the edge. Luckily the RV-8A has bent trailing edges, not rivetted ones like the RV-9.I haven't logged any time against these starter projects, since they're not part of the actual aircraft. I'll start logging time when I hit the empennage proper. For now, I'm going to sort out all the horizontal stabilizer (HS) bits since that is the first thing that gets done. Then I'll bring the plan and instructions inside and take a look at them before getting started tomorrow evening after work.
