Brief Description: Tom Clark fastback - canopy frame
Tonight I made up the two aft ribs of the canopy frame, and also dressed the fwd ribs down so they clear the bulkhead. I'll need to get a little bit of filler weld in there, then dress it again. To assist further I spread the canopy frame a little and gained an extra 1/16" or so each side. It should clear ok. I just hope I can then make a decent transition between the frame and the fuselage when making/modifying the fibreglass skirt. I also made up the canopy latch bracket and tube for the right-hand side.
Next couple of jobs is to clean all the tube ends so the welder can get clean welds, to make up a couple of re-inforcing brackets at the aft end where the tubes join, and also to work out what I'm going to do about retaining pins at the aft end. With that all done, I'll be able to give Evan the welder a phone call, then sit back and wait until he brings it back!
