I had wrote a whole load of text for this log entry, but somehow I lost it :-( Anyway, to summarize (since it is nearly midnight), I decided to do the battery hatch mod that many builders do. Unfortunately I didn't visualise the hinge position and action the way I intended and fitted it 'incorrectly'. As a result the hatch *doesn't* open and lie flat against the forward facce of the baggage shelf as I intended. Ah well, no huge biggie. I have used a spare hinge eye which will have a short #6 nutplate riveted it to to hold the hinge pin (which has a 90 deg bend in it). The retainer will be held witha s ingle #6 screw from thr front. That way I can easily remove the hinge pin and thus the whole door if I need to. I think I will also need to put stiffeners around the cutout and I have yet to decide on the closing/latching mechanism; hartwell latch probably, which I'll need to order from Spruce or somewhere.
