Brief Description: Forward skin, electric elevator trim
Got back from a week away in Wellington yesterday and just mooched around teh workshop most of the day doing bits and pieces.
First of all I re-worked the elevator trim; I had originally decided manual trim and then later changed my mind to go electric. I ordered the electric trim kit with my fuselage kit but when I came to look at it months ago I noticed that I hadn't dimpled the trim cover plate and underlying holes for countersunk #6 screws, even though I had used countersunk nutplates. Doh! Well, today I remedied that by removing the nutplates, dimpling the holes and the nutplates and then re-riveting them. I then proceed to fit the servo support brackets to the cover plate. Done.
Next up, I re-fitted the canopy support frame and hence was then able to re-fit the forward skin. I match drilled the skin to the firewall, aft baggage bulkhead and instrument panel flange. Next I fitted and match drilled the canopy frame support flanges. Thats pretty much when I stopped as a friend came to visit with a computer problem. I had hoped to get the VS re-installed, but didn't quite get around to it.
