Made some good progress tonight, though not quite as much as I'd hoped. I got the fuselage bulkheads and seat support angles riveted in place. The I fitted and rivetted the two cockpit rails. I noted that Vans called for AN426AD3-6 rivets here: no way!! I used 5.5 and even those were long enough that I tipped a lot of them over. Part of the reason for that is my inability to rivet cleanly whilst leaning over the fuselage and looking under the cockpit rail. It also turns out, I think anyway, that some of my holes are not quite perpendicular through the angle, which provides a false sense of 'square' since the bucking bar needs to be square to the rivet not the surrounding longeron. I drilled more than a few out, and sometimes the same one two or three times :-( Finally, I cleco'd on the center section bulkhead caps and the front seatback support mounting plates. I was hoping to rivet these and the seatback support fram itself, but I really did have other stuff to get sorted out, so that will need to wait until another time.
