Brief Description:  Cockpit fuel system

First new pipe this morning was the fuel pump relief valve return line. This one really was quite tricky since it had to curve away from the 'T'-fitting and then back again. More difficult than that, though, was that it was tricky to pass through the gear tower due to the restricted access and the line being longer than the gap between the center section and the tower, which made it hard to get into place. As with the line from filter to pump, the forward end had to be made in place. otherwise it would not have fitted through the holes in the gear tower.

I was wondering how to make the line that goes from the selector to the fuel tank. Without the side skin on I didn't know where the hole was, but with the skin on I had no room to work. Now those of you following my progress will remember the faulty aileron skin I had that Vans replaced. Well, it became a template so I knew where the hole goes without having to fit the skin. Neat! Of course, I still wrecked the only piece of 3/8" tube I had left, so it will have to wait until the new stuff arrives now...

Instead I went ahead and made the left side vent line. Not as neat as I'd like, but I'm not going to re-do it. What I am going to try to do is get some plastic tube to slide over it before I button it all up; I'm worried it may vibrate and chafe on the gear tower.

After the vent line, I decided to throw caution to the wind and go ahead and do the fuel return line. This was another tricky one that had to be fitted in place and through the gear tower. At least it is 1/4" tube and easier to man handle around!
