Brief Description:  Cockpit fuel system

Here is the result of an hour and a quarter of frustration, this being my 4th (or 5th?) attempt at making this connection between the fuel pump and the firewall. The problem was that I was trying to make a direct connection. The two ends are too close together and no matter how I tried, I simply could not get an 'S'-shaped pipe to fit. After a few attempts I realised I was going to have to make a 'double back' connection here (terminology mine).

I now have the two 3/8" lines from the fuel selector to each fuel tank to make, and I only have enough tube for the closest (left) one. I also have the vent lines yet to make, and the fuel injection return line. Another order to Vans then, and I think I'll get some more quarter inch tube while I'm at it. I'm getting there slowly, though work is getting in the way at the moment (and for the foreseeable future too). One thing that does strike me though, is that I'm glad I'm taking the time out to do this now, rather than crack on with the infinitely more uplifting job of riveting the fuselage together. I simply can't imagine the headache this would cause later trying to make these lines with limited access, and having to climb in and out of the cockpit all the time. Sheesh!! :-|
