Brief Description:  Leading edge landing light

Having riveted the left wing leading edge I decided I would tackle the landing light installation next, before riveting the leading edge assembly to the spar. This took longer than expected (and still isn't finished) but I wanted to take it easy and make sure I didn't screw anything up. I'm taking lots of photos of the whole installation, but of course each kitlog entry only has room for three pictures. If you'd like to see more then let me know, and perhaps I'll chuck them up on my website or something once I'm all done installing the light. To cut a long job short; carefully placed the template and checked it several times. Then got Jackie to check it. Cut out the hole using a dremel with a cutting disc. Tidied up the hole using a sanding drum in the dremel, then emery cloth and then sandpaper. Cut out the template for the rib, and then drilled and riveted the 10-32 nutplates to the ribs. Since I had the leading edge off the wing I chose to use AN426AD3-3.5 solid rivets instead of pop rivets to install the nutplates. I called it a night at this point and will do more another night. I think I might be home late from work tomorrow as I have a Microsoft Exchange installation to perform for a customer after work (we're doing a migration for them).
