Brief Description:  Fitting the canopy - SIKA photos

As promised, a couple of photos. I found that by rubbing with my finger I could actually remove any SIKA where it wasn't on a primered area. I was thus able to tidy some of the lines. I also noticed a few specs of primer on the inside of the bubble where it wasn't properly protected and I suspect I will need to find a way of polishing these out. The SIKA job I'm not very happy with, as I already mentioned. The 'soapy finger' method perhaps isn't that good as there are many areas that are rough instead of smooth. I think, though, that the problem may not have necessarily been the method but the speed. Or more specifically, lack of. Whilst rushing is never a good idea, you only have to leave this stuff for 5 mins after application and it starts to skin over. Then when you remove the tape it pulls the skin and you end up with a rough job. That, I think, is exactly what happened to us. I also noticed yesterday, that there are one or two areas where the clamps were too tight and this has placed a 'dent' in the canopy at that location. There were two on the front hoop on each side. Luckily, we should be able to cover these slip ups with the fibreglass skirts and fairings. As with many things, lessons learnt for next time. If there is a next time.
