Trimmed the HS fibreglass tips. Countersunk the holes for CSK4-4 rivets and dimpled the holes in the skin. Made up some 020 aluminium strips and bonded to the inside of the tip for the op rivets to bear against. Even though the strips are very light I could feel the added weight after I did one tip. I will do the other tip to match, but I think I'll scrap that idea for the rest of the fibreglass otherwise I'll be adding a lot of extra weight. Just as well these are the smallest pieces! I'm still concerned about pop rivets on bare fibreglass though, so tomorrow will see whether I can obtain locally some 1/8" aluminium washers to do the same job. They should weigh considerably less than a long strip of aluminium; I might weigh the two options and see what difference it makes. This fibreglass work is taking considerably longer than expected...
