Brief Description:  Parking brake

Removed the brake cylinders from the rudder pedal assembly and fitted the Vans supplied hoses that route from the cylinders to the Matco PV-1 parking brake valve. I'll use these as supplied but all other hoses I intend to be stainless. I can't be bothered to mess around with aluminium tube and the stainless looks nicer too. Easier to replace in future as well, though maybe not as easy to repair.

Made a new bracket for the Matco valve to mount it upside down. With the lever on the right side (as looking fwd) the action is now UP to apply the brakes, DOWN to release. Exactly what I wanted. It puts the brake line fittings at the bottom but I have some 90deg fittings coming from Spruce for that.

Next job was to run the parking brake cable and I found that it wasn't as flexible as it first appeared when handled 'in the loose'. I had to route the cable up to the crossbrace and then come down from above to get the cable in just the right position to pull on the lever correctly. I made a small bracket from .063" with two adel clamps (with one clamp the cable had a tendency to twist away from vertical). Two more adel clamps keep the cable off the bulkhead. The bracket will be riveted to the bulkhead and the clamps will be held in place with #8 screws and nutplates.

I dimpled the bulkhead and rivetted the nutplates for the two top clamps that hold the cable of the bulkhead. Also dimpled for four AN426AD4 rivets to hold the bracket (which needs priming first). Finally, I cut the cable to length and put some heatshink over the whole length a) to help guard against possible abrasion against the bulkhead and b) to provide a little extra diameter to the clamps to grip on (they didn't grip fully with just the cable).
