Brief Description: Instrument panel access door mod
Drilled the last holes for the access panel (two on each side. Cut out a doubler from .040" and drilled to the same screw holes as the main panel. I've left the uprights of the doubler long and I'm hoping I might be able to pick up one #30 rivet each side on the F-802N cross brace for extra strength. It'll require a little 'S' bend in the upright and since the hole is already drilled (they were my positioning holes) it may not line up. I'll see once I get the assembly onto the fuselage. Next job will be to open out the #30 screw holes for #8 screws and then drill the bulkhead and doubler for nutplates. Then a big deburring and countersinking exercise.
In other news, I ordered a 'T'-handle from Wicks that I will use to actuate the parking brake valve, so after I've done this access panel I need to expend some energy working out the parking brake installation. Luckily several builders have already done this, so I should be able to find some stuff on the 'net.
