Brief Description:  Right wing tip

Didn't spend much time out in the workshop today. My order of screws arrived from Aeroware today (quick service!) and so did my even bigger order from Aircraft Spruce and a new 2006/7 catalog for me to read :-) I also bought some glass strands and some more West Systems resin/hardener today so it was time to sort out that mis-alignment on the trailing edge. The first thing I did was drill out all the wing tip attach holes to 3mm (a shade larger than #33) so I could drill for the K1000-06 nutplates once I got the wing off. Unfortunately, I don't have a #6 nutplate drilling jig, so I'm having to use my #4 and then I'll have to re-fit the wing to drill out to #27 for the 6-32 screws, before removing the tip again to actually fit the nutplates! Ah well, next time I order from Wicks, or Avery or ACS I'll get one. Meanwhile, to the glass batman!! First of all I marked a line on the fibreglass wing tip to match the aft edge of the aileron so they both match up. And then I took the dremel to it. What a fantastic tool :-) Next it was out with the files and the mouse sander. It's not completely done yet, but there is a massive void in the trailing edge exposed after the cutting. Tomorrow I'll finishing drilling the tip for the nutplates and once that is done I'll flox the trailing edge, inside and out. I also need to build up a little around the front of the cutout for the light mounting plate to fix the dge distance on those two nutplates at the front there. I'll take the opportunity to prep and prime the reinforcing strips and then once all that lot is set we should be able to fit nutplates, re-mount to the wing and finish the shaping of the trailing edge. Easy ;-)
