Brief Description:  Wing skeleton

So. Anyone spot the deliberate mistake from yesterday? Go back and look; I'll tell you later!! Didn't really get much tonight tonight. Jackie has only got five of the main ribs finished but I decided to assemble the skeleton temporarily anyway so I can work out what's needed for the AoA Pro tubing and stuff. I haven't even fluted the ribs yet, but this is just a temporary assembly anyway. I put the five ribs in, but something didn't seem quite right. Then I noticed that the little tab at the trailing edge was in the wrong place, which is why the rear spar didn't want to cleco on properly. After a look at the plans and a re-think I realised I needed to swap the flange direction over. So, for example, a W-711-L on the drawing for the left wing, now becomes a W-711-R for the right wing. I cleaned off the numbers I had already written on the five ribs, re-positioned and re-numbered them correctly. And whaddaya know; the rear spar fitted properly this time!! Anyway, here's a progress shot of the skeleton coming together. Oh, and that deliberate mistake from yesterday; check out the other photo; yep, that's right; I had forgotten to include the aileron bellcrank brackets when I had bolted the tiedown bar to the main spar. I removed the bolts, checked the treads on the nutplates and bolts were still good, and then replaced, this time including the brackets. Torque'd them back up again to around 28 in-lb (actually, just a tad tighter than that) and called it job rescued :-) Jackie is taking the day off work tomorrow and will be finishing the rest of main ribs. I think the weather will be crap this weekend too, so we should make some good progress over the next few days...
