Bits and pieces tonight. Don't feel like I've achieved that much. Vans gave me the 'build on' for the angle bracket I was concerned about last night, so the tank went back on. I match drilled #12 and cleco'd through from the aft side of the main spar for all the tank angle attach brackets. I made sure I had a suitably set drill stop on the drill to avoid making more holes in the rear tank baffle. I then match drilled the tank skin to W-423 joint plate with a #30 drill, held it with clecos and then opened them up to #19, again holding with clecos (the black ones). Removed the tank from the wing and opened up the spar attach holes to #19. Deburred the holes in the tank skin and the angle brackets. Thinking ahead for the tank, I shall need to comply with the service bulletin, prime the sides of the tank, and then fit the nutplates onto the spar attach brackets; with a bit of luck I'll be able to squeeze those. Last (quick; yeah right!) job of the evening was to rivet the nutplates onto the aft side of the main spar for the inboard tank attach bracket. I drilled out the rivet holes to #40, countersunk using the microstop and then rivetted. Badly. They were an absolute ARSE to buck in between the two wing walk ribs. I thought about trying to back rivet them, and maybe I'll grab Jackie for assistance and try that on the next wing. I drilled one rivet out and left the rest 'as is'; I figure I'll do more damage trying to get them out again, and after all, they are only holding a nutplate on; hardly structural... Oh, and Hi Dan; get yer arse over here and help me!! You *know* you want to... :-) [not the famed "DanC", in case you other builders are wondering; long time friend of mine from England]
