Brief Description:  Wing skeleton

Took me an hour and a quarter to do the rivets on the rear spar. All was going well until I got to the AD426D4-5 rivets at the outboard rib. For some reason they were against me tonight. I used probably 10 rivets to get those four done. The second one down from the top was the one that caused me the most grief, followed by the top one. The second one must have got drilled out about half a dozen times. I'm a bit of a master at drilling out rivets now, but this one had me beat and needless to say I enventually enlarged the hole, no matter how careful I was trying to be. Luckily it wasn't too bad and a slightly pre-squeezed 4-6 rivet eventually did the job of filling the whole and making an 'acceptable' head.I also eventually decided that the pneumatic squeezer was the cause of most of my trouble on these rivets: it is simply too harsh. I swapped to the hand squeezer and the slower squeeze and increased control gave me much better results. Its easy to get hung up on the idea that the pneumatic squeezer is THE tool becuase it is so easy and consistent; not this time. A valuable lesson learned.I wanted to get onto the skins tonight but have got so frustrated I've decided to call it quits before anything else goes wrong :-( Still, wing skeleton is now done so tomorrow night I'll read the book of words, unpack the skins and see whats what...
