Brief Description:  good weights

1) this is my second pour, having sealed the form up completely with sticky back aluminum airconditioning duct sealing tape. The tape itself worked fine, but the sticky stunk. No flames. no leaks. The weight solidifies about three min after puring and depends on your pour temp. I measured my just above 925, a little hot. maybe saw it boil too. dont let it boil!

The forms are made to be sacrifical in the end. I did have to use one twice and that required cleanup which took a bit of time.

Both of the finished raw castings are about 1.5 in thick, and pretty well alligns to the outer dimentions, with a little touch here and there on the sander.

I have yet to attempt cutting them length wise, as the band saw sort of clogs up , and the blade sides heat the lead something fearce. so I have to go slowly. I plan to make the edges and surfaces look nicer that here, but dont really know just what the actual weight will be needed for un painted parts.

I am not sure if I have save $$ here, but my time is free for me, and time is money. Sonex wants $50 for a brick, as do most suppliers of lead, plus shipping costs. Lead is hazardous material and the costs are higher than noirmal parts. I already have the heat source, half of the lead. I went to a metal salvage yard and got 10-12 lbs more scrap lead, and found a 50 cent iron skellet to use. total outlay was 11.25, tax included. I think I beat the price by enough to be more than happy!!
