Brief Description:  Check-out

Colin Stevens, one of two Eagle R&D check-out people lives only a hundred miles away in Southern BC. It was decided to divide my check-out in two phases. Before my DAR issues the Airworthiness Certificate, he reguires the engine and rotor system to run under his observation.
Blake shipped the elastermerics for the rotor hub and Colin made the trip down to Washington State. Over a period of two and one half days, Colin and I were able to perform all of the tasks to make the ship truely airworthy. This included, engine start and governor calibration, tail rotor shaft alignment, tail rotor dynamic balance, main transmission alignment, control limits, and main rotor blade balance.
I was afforded many opportunities to practice and perfect the engine start sequence, as well as the art of properly engaging the clutch and conditioning the belts
At the completion of Colins visit, N537HC is ready for flight and needs only an airworthiness certificate to shed the bond of Earths gravity!
I was most impressed with Colin and Eagle R&Ds check-out. It follows a very methodical and logical process.
My advice to other builders is to absolutely have a large automotive type battery available for the many starts needed.
Hopefully, the Airworthiness certificate will be issued by the DAR in the next week or two. Then Colin will return and We'll actually fly!!
