Brief Description:  Cover Bottom of Fuselage

Back to work. In preparation of covering the bottom of the fuselage I installed lock nuts on all the flight controls inside the plane. I assembled everything with non-locking hardware store nuts so I could take things apart as needed during construction .That was handy since I found reasons to disassemble almost everything at one time or another. Not having to deal with the
locknuts made that process easier. It also keeps from wearing down the synthetic lock nuts by taking them off and on several times. All the nuts are tightened and marked with torque seal. I primed the bottom stringer and cleaned the tubing thoroughly where glue will be applied.

Having the rotisserie was very handy for covering the bottom of the fuselage. It made it much easier to lay out and trim the fabric. I ended up with a couple of spots with pucks around the landing gear attachment points. If I had to do it over again I would have laid out and trimmed those areas first. I didn’t realize how critical it was and did those spots last. I’m hoping I can smooth it out when I shrink the fabric tomorrow.

5/8/2015 Finished with the first shrink (250 degrees) on the bottom fabric. All the wrinkles came out fine.
