I had previously cut and fitted the stainless steel firewall that came with the kit. Since then I obtained a sheet of .020 Titanium and made a new firewall. I cut, fitted and drilled the new material. I have yet to make the final cut to fit the top of the firewall to the bottom of the boot cowl. The new firewall is about six pounds lighter than the stainless steel firewall that came with the kit. I consider that a considerable weight savings.
In the photo the titanium firewall is mounted on the plane. The original stainless is on the floor. You can see the machine turning that I did on the stainless firewall. That took several hours and I’m not going to do it again. .
