Brief Description:  Dimpled Horizontal and Vertical Stabalizer

Over the last few days I've slowly worked through the prepping and dimpling stage for both the Horizontal and Vertical Stabalizer. Jeremy helped a lot with the Vertical piece while I spent time prepping edges and peeling away plastic.

Learned a valuable lesson this week: When your hand gets tired, put away the pneumatic squeezer. See picture #2 below. We'll have to fill that with epoxy and back with a scrap piece of aluminum. Or maybe the edge piece that wedges between top/bottom skin will provide the backing needed. We'll see. Looking at some of the forums, I guess this falls under the category: s*%$ happens.

Anyay, I'm now ready to prime the ribs, spars and inside skins. Hopefully we can wok on completing the paint booth this weekend. I've brought a few parts home to get them roughed up and cleaned. We'll see how the next phase go.

I also spent three hours on my workbench trying to inlay a piece of metal for back-riveting. Lots of wood work going on here with the Dremel tool and wood chisel. Need some fine tuning before the metal will seat properly.
