Brief Description: Reworked HS-404 & Match Drilled Skin
The new rib arrived via USPS and I spent last night trying to make the best rib I could. With lessons learned before about using the Band Saw for intricate work (don't do this!), I resoted to the Dremel Tool and found the precision I needed. Using the grinding wheel, cutting wheel, and a mini-Scotch Brite wheel, the new HS-404 turned out great!
Tonight I fluted the rib, marked and drilled the holes, and then match drilled the entire underside of the port-side Horizontal Stabalizer. When I get back from San Diego I'll do the top side match/drill. Amazing how good this thing is looking. As to where I'll store it while working on the starboard side I have no idea. Might have to buy some shelves at Costco or clear some space. Actually, a pseudo wing-jig might work.
A note for drilling the flanges of HS-404 and HS-405: The 90 degree angle drill with a three inch extension on the drill bit worked perfectly. See picture below.
