Brief Description:  Right Elevator: Bending Leading Edge

Well, it felt great to get back to the Hangar after being on travel the last few weeks. Hawaii, Seattle, Cleveland, and finally back here to Virginia. Of course the temp was in the high 90's, but I didn't care. Just wanted to get started again!

Tonight I spent a couple hours cleaning up the hangar. After being gone the spiders and small insects tried their best to take over the place. Nothing a good shop-vac can't handle.

Following Field Day, I went way back in time to the Right Elevator where I literally forgot about bending the leading edge. I must have been dreading that so I blew it off long enough to forget. So...with the help of some hooks mounted in my workbench and a 3' section of 3/4" black pipe, I slowly and methodically bent the smaller section and half the middle section. Will come back tomorrow to continue. The small section was easy, but this mid-section is a bear! I'll finish tomorrow, but half the bending I'm doing is by hand. For some reason I can't get enough torque on the pipe. I drilled some holes in the end of the pipe to allow my screwdriver to assist in twisting, but still lacking something. Maybe I'm not taping things up correctly...I don't know. I'll figure it out though.

Looking forward to getting this Empenage behind me. Almost there...I think!
