Brief Description: Installed Pivot Bearing in Left Elevator
One more step complete. Yeah!
Stopped by the hangar in the 90 degree heat and worked for a while on the final touches to the Elevator. Found correct nuts and turnbuckles and installed iaw drawings. Adjusted each for 13/16ths of extension from the Spar.
Found a trick that seemed to work well. To adjust the turnbuckle try using one of those multi-pin all encompassing sockets shown in Image 3 below. Forget what they call these, but it has come in handy a LOT. And it is very strong...surprisingly. I used it recently to remove a busted lug nut on my wife's car. I think it was about 12 bucks at the Auto Parts Store.
Next up will be securing the counterbalance weight with the proper hardware, and then I must connect everything to the Horizontal Stabalizer to check clearances and alignment.
Still must order electrical supplies to finish the wire leading to the Electric Trim Motor. Altogether it was a good night.
